Rasta Gods Cannot Be Happy

It is 17 degrees and wet on a cool rainy Friday, with more rain in the forecast for this weekend...possibly over the next 3 days which may affect the big Saturna Island Lamb Barbecue on Sunday.

There was a Face Book notice of the birthdays of two friends and on one page I spent a long while going through the great photos of Cuba taken last year I think.

On world news this morning is that many expatriate Jamaicans are being murdered there when they return to retire. Also in general there is an upswing in murders of Brits, Canadians and any Gringos on the island.

 The consensus among the crooks seems to be that Brits and Canadian are rich and therefore easy marks...i.e. as in it is just the price of Tourism these days.

The Rasta Gods cannot be happy!

But today is a money day for us…Chaya got her cell phone roaming charges reversed by Virgin Mobile as we only appear to be receiving the signal in the US due to the Gulf Islands’ proximity to it. Also we have finally received the refund for the amount I paid in April for the bogus antivirus protection.

It is close enough to the amount in Canadian dollars paid to celebrate a victory. We are both surprised I got anything back from them as they signed their refund email with Thank You for Your Corporation.

At 7:56 a.m. it is partly cloudy and 19 degrees. There is rain in the forecast for Sunday and a 30% chance of rain tomorrow but last night there was a big windstorm that has littered the deck I swept clean yesterday. I searched the news for items of interest but could only find that Trump is bowing to pressure NOT to separate immigrant children from their families. In this land of the free and the home of the brave why would pressure have to be applied to begin with? I just finished a breakfast served by Judith that was passed on from the Islands Trust conference to us by Chaya. It was lukewarm but consisted of scrambled eggs and bacon…very tasty to my pallet. I would not touch the sausages though, as my last encounter with them left me feeling ill. I have restarted my computer after a recent shutdown to test my settings. Love Is All There Is

Well we are officially into fall now and this morning was the chilliest this year so far...8 degrees! I was up at 4:45 raring to go again [its the steroids in my current med] and I am eating like a horse. And the last week of rain is clearing. The sun is out at 2:08 and we are showing lots of blue sky and sun dappled trees out my window and on the hills across the bay. I have been able to keep my heater off thanks to last night's wood fire that kept the creeping chill off. Chaya came home and prepared a 5 star lunch for the three of us. Dylan is in school but her friend Rick was here. There was chicken breast with craisins [cranberry raisins] some Saturna baked seedy sourdough bread [toasted] and a whopping salad with fresh garden lettuce, yellow and red peppers, onions, tomatoes and goat cheese. My Rockin' 72nd Birthday Party

It is 17 degrees and sunny with a light haze over the island. I am still in recovery mode after my rocking Saturna Island 72nd birthday party hosted by my angel baby girl Chaya and her partner Rick. She invited a local baker named Gord who commutes to the island from Victoria and sometimes works near Priscilla at the island bakery and he arrived with a fiddle under his arm. He played a combination of jigs and popular songs with precision and a real feel for the music. His smile and charming manner were infectious. I felt the spirit of my dad in the music he played and he seemed to sense that. Bettianne baked and brought a “thunder and lightning” pair of sponge white and rich chocolate cakes with the numbers 72 spelled out in the candle placement. I got cheers for acing the blowout of them. Priscilla greeted me with a kiss on the lips and told me her daughter Jesse [who is working in Victoria] sent her love.
