The Lioness Awakens

It is a partially cloudy Tuesday morning and between 12 and 14 degrees the on line readings I get differ. However it looks like the cloud will persist this week and the temperatures will be accordingly lower.

It is 7:55 and when I got up Chaya was hanging a wash.

In the bathroom she came in to say goodbye for the morning as she is off to the café. She had already put a fresh coffee on my desk.

I guess someone has got Dylan already as he is not here and Rick too has gone as far as I know.

Dylan really created a storm here last night, as he was playing with the used roll of 50/50 tickets and separated each and every one and scattered them across the floor. Rick warned him that he would have a hard time clearing them all up.

That set Dylan off to making a bigger mess. I tried to point this out to Chaya but she was on the balcony enjoying her bliss after another busy day and she waved me off. What’s the problem here, its just paper she scolded?

But Dylan is a master of manipulation where the adults are concerned and he was soon extending his mess all around the dinner table and even into the folded laundry. By the time Chaya realized the extent of his mess he was happily celebrating his victory.

So stepping over the mess to serve dinner she tried the soft voice approach. Dylan paid no attention at all…not a flicker!

Chaya has not raised her voice in all the time I have been here but she let out a roar that scared even me. DYLAAAAN! The veins on her neck pulsed and stood out.

Dylan had tipped mommy’s patience a little too far and he woke the sleeping lioness. She now refused to serve him and sent him up to bed. She was now officially pissed and everyone knew it.

Rick had suggested an after dinner drive for us, but this was clearly out of the question now. So the adults buckled down to doing dishes, there was not a further peep out of Dylan, and Chaya swept the scattered tickets up for the recycling bin.

Personally I enjoyed the blast of heat from her, as Dylan has been manipulating her all month. Rick said to me in an earlier aside, I wish Chaya would stop negotiating with Dylan. I agree that there’s no way she can win with this strategy.

Dylan will always emerge the victor, hands down. And this is a kid who needs discipline!
